From July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, the Overlook Auxiliary has contributed over $144,000 to the Overlook Medical Center community in the form of grants, in-kind gifts, service events, projects, and Overlook team members appreciation events. Some of the impactful efforts are listed below.
GRANTS are requested by OMC Executive Team or by Department and are Approved by the Overlook Auxiliary Board of Directors.
- $4,000 to the Medication Fund for Financially Insecure Patients of HealthStart
- $4,500 Warming Oven for Radiation Oncology
- $5,000 Epic Census Board & Hospitality TV including storage cabinet and installation for In-patient Behavioral Health.
- $5,350 to Fund Wigs, Mastectomy Bras, and Gift Cards for Transportation & Food for Financially Insecurity
- $9,117 for Patients Extras Such as Craft Kits, Toys, and Holiday Gifts for ChildLife Patients
- $10,000 in Nursing Scholarships raised, in part, from SH Twig 27 Vendor Sales
- $16,370 Invested in Creative Art Therapy for Pediatric and Adolescent Patients raised from Art for Overlook Event
- $32,248 in Outdoor Furniture for New Break Areas
In-Kind Gifts are donated upon request and board approval and are funded by the Overlook Auxiliary, Twigs, and Junior Twigs. They can also be outright gifts from members, twigs and community members.
- 80 Fidget Aprons for Elder Care and Hospice Patients Made by our Sewing Twig
- $605 for Personalized Jackets for Long-Term Volunteers
- $1,163 for Crafts, Games, and Other Leisure Activities for Inpatient Behavioral Health
- $1,280 in MP3 Players for Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- $1,430 in SoundEars for Dept. of Surgery to Maintain Quiet Areas
- $1,620 in NICU Infant CPR Kits from money raised by Friends of Kent Place Jr. Twig
- $13,000 for 500 Thanksgiving Baskets to HealthStart Families raised by NP Twig 10
Service Events take place throughout the year where adults and student members come together to complete projects to thank our healthcare team members and improve patient experience. Some examples of projects completed this past year include:
- 400 Code Lavender Care Kits to Help Nurses in Crisis (insert link)
- 150 Care Kits for Parents and Loved Ones Spending the Night Unexpectantly
- 150 Valentine’s Day Craft Kits for Patients of ChildLife
Team Member Appreciation Events are held throughout the year to give team members a little reprieve from their busy days. These events can include contests, prizes, raffles, snacks and giveaways.
