Art at Overlook

About the Artist:
I often tell people that the creative side of my brain works way better than the other. It’s meant to be funny, but it is partially true, since I have spent almost 50 years working very happily as a hairdresser, and in my free time I paint and make music. I am so grateful for God’s gift of creativity, and the opportunities He has given me to share it with others. As an artist I find interest and beauty in some of the simplest scenes and moments in time, with most of my paintings done from photographs that I have taken in settings around my second home in Tuscany. As a musician and singer, I am blessed to be able to express myself through worship at Renaissance Church in Springfield. And as a hairdresser I get to bring a smile to someone’s face who arrives at the salon needing a pick me up. I hope that when you look at my work it makes you stop and appreciate the interesting world of people and places that God has made for us to enjoy.
The “Art at Overlook” program highlights the work of local artists within the halls of Overlook Medical Center. Program exhibits rotate every three months, and artists from the local community are invited to participate. All the art displayed is available for sale, with twenty percent of proceeds benefiting the Overlook Medical Center community.
If you are interested purchasing art, stop by or call the Overlook Auxiliary Gift Shop & Bloom at (908) 522-2117. Art is displayed on the main floor–ask the front desk for a map to the exhibits. Interested artists should contact Alison Schilsky at overlookauxiliarygallery@gmail.com for more information about the “Art at Overlook” program.
